For this AS media studies course I have been asked to create a magazine which will have; a font page cover, a contents page and a double page spread. I will be using this blog to present my planning of creating this magazine, I will be including images of coursework and notes explaining what those images are. The first piece of coursework that I have done is my proposal form, this simply explains what magazine I plan to create and what it is going to include:
My idea for the brief will be a rock magazine it will include new releases and upcoming new bands with interviews from the bands and exclusive image. This will make the magazine appealing to the audience because there will be never seen before images. The target audience will be mainly for teenagers as it includes posters and child like humor it also will appeal to both genders.
The major conventions in my magazine will be:
Masthead: bright colours easy to see and the masthead is typically at the top left corner
Essential information: The date and issue number would tend to be beside which then draws your eyes over.
Main sell line: enigma code which is a word that has two meanings to it, it teases the target audience, gives the impression of good value while space may be used to suggest style
Sub-heading: This explains the enigma teaser
Sell-lines: Barcodes and issue number tend to be backgrounded but also noticeable
Colour: Magazines tend to be recognized by the colours used, and also can be identified by the colours to different genders.
Main image: builds and image/identity for the magazine attracts the audience; makes the magazine stand out by using one central image. Using one central image rather than many otherwise the magazine cover will look to packed and you wont be drawn to just one image but many which could distract you from the main sell line.
